Hello and welcome to Scottish Artists Archives Network!
A place for all types of Scottish artists archives to connect, share and build a sector wide community. Scottish Artists Archives Network aims to:
-
create a mutually supportive environment
-
map the archives of artists, writers and other creatives across Scotland
-
create a bank of shareable resources specifically helpful to artist archives
-
demonstrate the value of these archives to Scottish culture and heritage.
The network has been developed by Sorcha Dallas, Custodian of The Alasdair Gray Archive in Glasgow and Tilly Heydon, Archivist at The Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Trust in Edinburgh. Both have benefitted from collegiate support to develop their own archival practice and want to grow the network to share and learn from others.
You might be involved in running a Scottish artist’s archive, are keen to set one up for yourself (or someone else) or are an archivist keen to learn more about Scottish archival practice. This is an informal, non-hierarchical network with no membership, just open to all who want to collaborate and learn. It doesn’t matter where you are based in Scotland, we will host regular online and occasional in person events to grow the network and learn from the different challenges involved in Scottish artists archival practice.
Please share and help us grow this community!
